Share the Plate Application

​On the fourth Sunday of each month, we donate our collected cash and checks to an organization chosen by our Social Justice Committee. Our purpose is to raise awareness within the congregation of social justice concerns in the region and to give congregants an opportunity to provide direct support to organizations that fit into the framework of the UUCS strategic plan, specific social justice resolutions, or major initiatives.

​The Committee welcomes nominations from members and pledging friends. Use this application to tell the Committee about the organization you’re nominating. Recipient organizations must be nominated by a church member or pledging friend.

​These eligibility criteria must be met:
  • Organization must be a 501(c) (3) or a Florida-registered not-for-profit tax-exempt organization.
  • Organization must be local to the Sarasota or Florida area.
  • Request must be for an organization, not an individual.
  • Organization’s values must be congruent with our UU principles.
  • Organization’s clients must benefit directly from our relatively small financial donations.
  • At least one UUCS member or pledging friend must have personal knowledge and commitment to the organization, preferably as a volunteer with the organization.

The application is displayed below. Simply download it using one of the two links at the bottom, print it, fill it out and return it by one of these methods:
  • Scan and email it to Share-The-Plate Taskforce at [email protected]. 
  • Bring it to the church office
  • Drop it off at the Social Justice Table on Sunday morning
  • Send it via US mail to the church
