Abortion rights are threatened by government action in Florida.

We believe in bodily autonomy - that people have the right to control their bodies. They should be able to make informed decisions in consultation with their health care providers without governmental interference.

In 2023, our community worked with many other concerned Floridians to gain enough signatures for a ballot initiative for Abortion Rights.  Now we are waiting to have Amendment 4 pass the last roadblocks to be on the 2024 ballot.  The Florida State Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments February 7th and must issue their ruling by the end of February.  If the State Supreme Court approves the verbiage of the Amendment, it will be on the 2024 ballot in November 2024.

The Reproductive Justice Team is working with other UUSRQ Social Justice teams to get out the vote!  Our first step is to ask our community to verify their voter registration and to sign up for Vote by Mail.  Vote by Mail ensures you will be able to vote in case of travel, illness or inclement weather.  You can take your Vote by Mail ballot directly to your polling place if you prefer to vote in person.  It gives you the chance to research the ballot.

Our second ask is that you speak to your friends, neighbors, card playing friends and ask them to register to vote and request a Vote by Mail ballot.

It is important that we ensure everyone is prepared to vote.  Voting is a right for all citizens of our country!

2024 Elections – All elections are critical this year!
8/20/24 – Primary Elections and very important local elections
9/05/24 – General Election

Reproductive Justice Team is sponsoring Elevated Access for Share-the-Plate in March 2024.  Elevated Access is a volunteer group of pilots who provide transportation for abortion and gender-affirming care.

Reproductive Justice Action Team's Mission Statement:

The UUCS Reproductive Justice Action Team supports and protects the right of each person to safe, accessible, reproductive health care services, including abortion, through education and advocacy.
