Adult Programs
Provides leaders for classes of interest
Arts Council
Meets monthly. Promotes inclusion of the arts in the Sunday services, assists with special cultural programs and organizes art exhibits.
BidFest
This is our major annual fundraiser. Participate by offering goods and services, and then placing your own bids on amazing meals, tremendous trips, rides to the airport, visits to museums, and much more
Buildings
Responsible for maintenance and improvement of the physical plant and equipment.
Caring Team
Provides short term home/hospital/rehab visits, cards, meals, transportation to doctor, referrals to area agencies and other needs as required.
Chalice Groups
Catherine Bonner
Provides facilitators for our Chalice Groups (small groups that foster Deep Thinking/Deep Listening in our congregation.)
Choir
The choir sings twice a month on Sunday mornings and practices on Wednesday evenings.
Design
Responsible for the design and beautification of rooms.
Emerson Memorial Library
Maintains our library and sells books of UU interest at the monthly Book Table
Endowment
Manages church's endowment funds.
Finance
Provides oversight of all finances and makes recommendations to the Board. Provides annual audit, assists Treasurer and Stewardship Committee as needed/requested.
Forum
Meets first Sunday each month to review past Forums and plan future topics. Members and friends are invited to attend and present their ideas.
Get Together Dinners
Mary Fran Raynault & Bill Payton
Reservations required for once a month dinners held in members' homes. Each person contributes a portion of the meal
Green Team
The Green Team advocates and educates to promote environmental justice and a sustainable way of life in order to leave a healthier planet for future generations.
Grounds
Maintains all gardens including Dick and Diane Happy Memorial Garden with Tuesday morning volunteers.
Membership Development
Meetings are set for the 2nd Thursday each month at 2pm in-person and on Zoom. This committee oversees and develops programs to engage and connect visitors and members to UUSRQ including staffing the Welcome Center and Greeters on Sundays, providing new member gatherings and recognition of new members, and classes on belonging at UUSRQ.
Memorial Services
Assists minister with memorial services by providing hospitality.
Multimedia
Maintains and operates the church's audio and visual equipment.
Nominating
Presents a slate of candidates for officers and trustees of the Board, and for the Nominating Committee, which are voted on by the membership at the annual meeting.
Public Relations
Develops public relations outreach for communication about Unitarian Universalists of Sarasota..
Rainbow Alliance f/k/a Interweave
Focuses on Gay and Lesbian and Transgender issues meeting once a month with a discussion and potluck.
Religious Education
Supports and assists the Director of Religious Education in creating programs for children and families.
Safety Committee
Reviews safety procedures for activities conducted on the UUSRQ campus as well as at UUSRQ functions. Meets on an "as needed" basis.
Social Justice
The Social Justice Committee is dedicated to working on local, national and international social justice issues in partnerships with other community organizations and to educating and involving our congregation regarding these issues. Sub-Teams of this committee focus on specific areas of interest including, racial justice, environmental justice, immigration justice, LGBTQ+ justice, Democracy action and reproductive justice.
Stewardship
Stewardship Is entrusted with the growing, nurturing, and building of our congregants' gifts and talents and promotes the spirit that influences our service to each other and the greater community.
Sunday Hospitality
Organizes volunteers for setting up and staffing the Hospitality (a/k/a the "cookie table") table on Sundays
Sunday Potluck
Coordinates potlucks held after the service on the second Sunday of each month.
Ushers
Each Sunday ushers welcome church attendees, distribute the Order of Service, collect the offering and track attendance.
UU Service Committee
Keeps the congregation informed of the UU Service Committee which is a worldwide organization to help others at home and abroad.
Website Design and Maintenance
Solicits and adds content to our website and keeps information about our busy and vibrant church up-to-date for the world wide web.
Worship
Selects, invites and hosts all guest speakers when the minister is not in the pulpit. Worship Associates help to lead and plan readings, songs, etc on the Sundays when the minister is not in the pulpit. Evaluates all Sunday Services.
