The Unitarian Universalists of Sarasota is financed and governed locally. The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the church and, in that capacity, sets basic policy matters on behalf of the congregation. While committee chairs are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the church, the Board is responsible for establishing an organizational structure and delegating the authority to carry out the activities of the church. The Board also works closely with the Finance Committee to ensure fiscal integrity.
The Board of Trustees is elected by the congregation at its annual meeting at the end of our fiscal year. There are 10 elected trustees. Board officers are elected to one year terms; other Board members are elected to staggered terms to ensure that there is sufficient continuity on the Board. The four officers of the church are: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Minister of the church is an ex-officio member of the Board. The Officers, Minister and Director of Finance & Operations make up the Executive Committee.
The Board meets promptly at 7:00 PM on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to all interested members of the congregation.
Minutes of Board meetings and the Minister's Board Report are available through a link on the Members' Corner.
