The Forum
Sunday Mornings: 9:15-10:15am -- In the Reeb Room and on Zoom
Forum Committee Co-chairs: Marie Keeney and Jane Rose
The Forum Committee would like to invite our winter members and friends to suggest possible speakers for our Sunday morning Forum presentations. We'd also like to hear about houseguests whom we only see in the winter months. It would be a commitment of a little more than an hour, with time to attend the regular service as well.
The Forum Committee would also like to have a program that features members of our congregation who have written or are writing books (any kind). We’d like to hear a bit about what question or inspiration impelled you to write, and discoveries you made (about yourself, your subject, writing, publishing) along the way. Keeping in mind that Forum programs encourage audience engagement. Presenters should plan 1-2 discussion prompts to stimulate discussion.
If you would like to be part of either program, please fill out the form below and Jane Rose or Marie Keeney will reach out to you.

The UU Forum is an adult program held every Sunday morning in the hour before the worship service. A different topic of current relevance (local, national, or global) is addressed each week. Topics covered in forums span a wide range of concerns: political, social, economic, environmental, psychological, medical, cultural, and philosophical. Many Forum presenters are experts in their fields: professors, practicing professionals, public officials; some are members of the congregation. In all cases, Forum presenters generously give of themselves for no compensation.
The program is called a “forum” because it is designed for interaction. Presenters limit their prepared comments to provide an equal amount of time for responding to questions and comments from attendees.
Forum starts at 9:15am. People can participate in Forum in person in the Reeb Room of UUSRQ or virtually through Zoom here.
Forum is not recorded, so whether in person or virtual, attendance is in real time.
Selection of topics and speakers is done by the Forum Committee. However, the committee encourages suggestions for speakers and contact leads. It takes a village to produce 50 Forum programs a year! The Forum Committee meets once a month on Zoom for schedule planning. Anyone wishing to join the Forum Committee is invited to discuss that option with Marie Keeney or Jane Rose.
Forum programs are developed to fulfill our commitment to the six shared values of Unitarian Universalism, emanating from Love: Interdependence, Equity, Transformation, Pluralism, Generosity, and Justice.
Each week’s topic for the next Sunday Forum is provided in The Contact, our weekly e-newsletter, and on the UUSRQ homepage.
A historic snapshot of Forums over the past few years can be found in the Forum Archive, which can be accessed from the Member’s Corner. If you need the password please reach out to the office at (941) 371-4974.
