Serendipity Raffle
What’s that, you say? It’s a new way to have fun created by our auction committee. From time to time, we’ll have a stupendous offering for which you can buy raffle tickets online. Then the winning name will be drawn and announced at a Sunday service.
Thanks to our Book Club, our first item is the chance to have two seats at the Sarasota Library Foundation’s Author Luncheon where Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is the speaker. The two luncheon tickets cost $300 but one raffle ticket costs only $40 for both tickets. Hurry…we are selling only 75 raffle tickets and they will go fast! Tickets are on sale now through Friday, Jan.28th. The winners will be announced during the January 30 Sunday Service.

Professor Gates has authored or co-authored twenty-five books and created twenty-three documentary films, including Wonders of the African World, African American Lives, Faces of America, Black in Latin America, Black America since MLK: And Still I Rise, and Africa’s Great Civilizations. Finding Your Roots, his groundbreaking genealogy series now in its eighth season on PBS, has been called “one of the deepest and wisest series ever on television,” leveraging “the inherent entertainment capacity of the medium to educate millions of Americans about the histories and cultures of our nation and the world.”
