Democracy is on the ballot. With Christian nationalism on the rise and its adherents and sympathizers campaigning for public office, the 2024 election will be one of the most consequential in our nation’s history. The results of these elections will determine the future of key issue areas including church-state separation, LGTBQ+ equality, voting rights, fighting hate and discrimination, supporting public education, and reproductive justice.
Faith voices and congregations have a unique role to play in raising awareness about Christian nationalism and strengthening and supporting our democratic processes in the lead-up to the 2024 election. In this training, we will equip participants to:

- Identify how Christian nationalism is showing up in the election year and key policy areas
- Create clear and convincing election-year messaging and identify messengers to mobilize diverse faith communities
- Understand ways in which faith communities and faith leaders can responsibly engage in advocacy and nonpartisan election-year activities, including voter registration efforts, serving as a poll chaplain or poll watcher, and getting out the vote

The Rev. Paul Brandeis Raushenbush is president and CEO of Interfaith Alliance. An ordained Baptist minister, Rev. Raushenbush is a longtime leader in the interfaith movement working to protect an inclusive vision of religious freedom for people of all faiths and none. He is regularly invited to offer commentary on issues of religion and civil rights in national outlets including CNN, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, NPR, New York Times, Washington Post, Al Jazeera, BBC, The Hill, Vice, and Religion News Service. He has published two books and contributed essays to several volumes on faith in public life. Prior to coming to Interfaith Alliance, Rev. Raushenbush served as senior vice president of the Auburn Seminary, the founding and executive editor of HuffPost Religion, associate dean of religious life and the chapel at Princeton University, and a founding editor of Beliefnet.com.
