Disposing of Hazardous Waste
You may be surprised at the products in your home that have the words “danger,” “warning,” “caution” and “poison” on the label. Never dispose of these toxic household items down the sink, on the ground, down a storm drain or in your garbage. Some household products without warning labels are also considered hazardous, such as computers, compact fluorescent lamps and batteries. Check our Hazardous Waste Guide to be sure how to dispose of these items.
Visit the ReUzit Shop in Sarasota to pick up items brought to the Chemical Collection Centers that are still in usable condition make up the inventory found in the ReUzIt Shop. Rather than pay a hazardous waste company to dispose of these products, the county opened the ReUzIt Shop to serve county residents.
