PreK-1st Grade UU Church of Sarasota Class Schedule
as of January 15, 2020 (subject to change)
1/26/2020: Chinese New Year- The children will hear the story of Dragon Dance and learn about the customs of Chinese New Year then will help with the Dragon Dance in the Courtyard after Service.
2/2/2020: Buddha- The children will hear a story about Buddha and make paper flowers.
2/9/2020: Valentines Day- Children will start in Service and hand out chocolates before returning to the classroom to create art.
2/16/2020: African Folktales- The Children will hear an African Folktale and then make paper masks.
2/23/2020: Mardi Gras- The children will hear the story of Dinosaur Mardi Gras and practice their dinosaur parade moves before joining the Mardi Gras parade in the courtyard after Service.
3/1/2020: Pancake Breakfast- All children will help set-up and prepare for the Pancake Breakfast to be served in-between the 2 services from 10:45-11:45
3/8/2020: Purim- The children will hear the story, Cakes and Miracles by Barbara Goldin and then make special cookies
3/15/2020: St Patrick's Day- The children will hear a story about St. Patrick's Day and make clover good luck charms
3/22/2020: Holi- The children will learn about the Hindu Festival of Love and the Colors. This is a Spring holiday and will involve getting wet with some water play
3/29/2020: Social Action- (TBD)
4/5/2020: Passover- The children will hear the story of Hoppy Passover by Linda Glasser, play a hide and seek game, and try passover foods.
4/12/2020: Easter Party- All children will start in Service before heading to the West Wing for the Easter Party
4/19/2020: Earth Day Intergenerational Service- All Children and Youth will participate in the Earth Day Service.
4/26/2020: Ramadan- The children will hear a story about Ramadan and make prayer mats
5/3/2020: Japanese Children's Day- The children will hear the story, A Carp for Kikimo and make kimono doll bookmarks.
