BACKPACK PROGRAM AT ALL FAITHS FOOD BANK
On a monthly basis, members and friends of Unitarian Universalists of Sarasota volunteer to pack small food items for local students to take home on weekends.
We have received our summer schedule for our UU volunteer effort at All Faiths Food Bank. We will be able to hold onto our second Monday slot through the summer and have the following dates: 6/9, 7/14, 8/11 and 9/8 to pack. Our time remains the same: 1pm. Our commitment in the summer is to bring 10 volunteers to the pack and be partnered with another organization.
Meanwhile, we will finish our spring commitment of 15-20 people from UU on 4/14 and 5/12 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, at a pack exclusively for UUSRQ. We need 15-20 members to volunteer to pack small food items for local students to take home on weekends at All Faiths Food Bank.
Starting in November, we will be packing on the second Monday of each month through May, again from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
Volunteers can get more information and sign up at the Social Justice table on Sundays or by contacting Louise McGrath at [email protected].
This is an ideal activity for those who are concerned about local food insecurity and are looking for a manageable time commitment.
